New Lower Cost Air/Oil Power Unit
Clamping Nut for Dies with Minimal Space

Hilma's new hydraulic-mechanical clamping nut is designed especially for clamping dies on rolling bolsters, press beds and slides. It is useful on machine tool beds when the available space is limited and maximum clamping force is required, or when a hydraulic unit or hoses to clamps is unavailable or not practical.

The new clamping nut provides high clamping forces with minimal torque. The t-bolt extends through the clamping nut, and the part is very adaptable to different clamping heights and tolerances. Suitable for retrofitting, the clamping nut provides easy manual clamping and unclamping.

The part comes in three sizes, with clamping forces ranging from 13,400 to 33,700 lbs. Safety features include a built-in preload indicator. For further information contact the HILMA Division of Carr Lane Roemheld Mfg. Co., e-mail us at engr@clrh.com.

New Lower Cost Air/Oil Power Unit
New Lower Cost Air/Oil Power Unit

Hilma has introduced a new air/oil pump made especially for small presses and low volume die clamping systems. The power unit is a complete package, ready for installation. When used in conjunction with Hilma's new lower-cost Hollow Piston Cylinders, it can reduce the price of a quick die change system 20%.

Clamping circuits for the pump are controlled with poppet style valves, available with manual or solenoid actuators. Clamp circuits include safety pressure switches.

The pump is available in various configurations. For further information contact the HILMA Division of Carr Lane Roemheld Mfg. Co., e-mail us at engr@clrh.com.

Lower Cost Hollow Piston Cylinders
New Lower Cost Hollow-Piston Cylinders

New Hollow Piston Cylinders from Hilma are being offered at a lower price, but with the same high quality as previous versions. Single acting, with spring return, the cylinders are made for clamping dies with parallel clamp surfaces on the press bed and slide.

These cylinders are piston-hardened and ground, and have a handy, compact design with a "no slip" handling groove. Maximum operating pressure is 5800 psi. Four sizes are available.

Quick Die and Mold Change PDF Catalog
Quick Die and Mold Change
PDF Catalog is Now Online

Hilma, a division of Carr Lane Roemheld, now provides an online catalog of its assortment of quick die and mold change products. The full line includes a variety of clamps and lifters, cylinders, power units, valve packages and much more. Hilma systems are universally adaptable and permit safe, rapid change-over to new production lots. The systems provide a high degree of clamping force control, enabling just-in-time production. Other advantages include increased uptime, reduced labor, faster delivery, faster turnaround, and reduced inventory.

Newest in the line are magnetic clamping systems for plastic and rubber molding machines. Hilma's new long pole technology uses double magnets to provide up to 20% more clamping force over square pole technology. The flexible systems, M-TECS 130 (max. 266°F) and M-TECS 210 (max. 410°F), offer quick change of different size molds in just three to five minutes.

New Ball-Type Die Lifters Allow
Both Linear and Traverse Movement

New ball-type die lifters from Hilma allow dies to be moved in both linear and traverse directions.

The rollblock consists of a bar that is equipped with either spring or hydraulically operated supporting balls for movement, allowing the die to be easily rolled in and out during the die change process.

Made for ASA t-slots, rollblocks are available in a wide variety of sizes.

Set Up Time Is Greatly Reduced
With Stark Zero Point Mounting System

Fixturing set up time is greatly reduced with the Stark Zero Point Mounting System, recently introduced by Carr Lane Roemheld. This comprehensive system utilizes clamping components and insertion nipples, which provide an immediate zero point orientation, allowing faster set up from the workpiece to the machine table.

The average changeover time with the Stark system is now approximately 20 seconds, due to external set up. Measuring of workpieces can be done on the pallet without unclamping, and operator-free production is possible.

Because of the Stark system's unique set up, machine travel is maximized. Safety features reduce the chance of damage from vibration and expansion.

The Stark Zero Point Mounting System has a variety of clamps and components available for various options, and your current clamps and mounting devices can be integrated into the Stark system.

New Magnetic Clamp Systems Offer Safe and Fast Mold Change

Magnetic mold clamping systems are now available from Hilma, well known for hydraulic clamping systems.

The new long pole technology uses double magnets to provide up to 20% more clamping force over square pole technology. The flexible systems offer quick change of different size molds in a single minute exchange time. Systems are available for plastic, M-TECS 130 (max. 266°F) and for rubber, M-TECS 210 (max. 410°F) injection and compression mold applications.

Electrical power is required for only two seconds to unclamp. Permanent magnets mean clamp capacity is not affected by any power loss. An intelligent safety system is utilized, where a mold clamp sensor, temperature probe, and light signals provide additional safety features.

Hilma Div. of Carr Lane Roemheld is now offering these systems by Rivi Magnetics, in addition to Hilma’s well-known hydraulic mold clamps.

Die Clamp, Lift and Roll With New Double-T Clamping Bar

Hilma's new Double-T Clamping Bar provides a die roller and clamp in one very cost-effective package. The double-acting unit slides in a standard DIN T-slot in the lower subplate. When the bar is lifted, it provides a rolling surface for moving dies in and out of the press. Once in position, the bar is lowered and provides internal clamping throughout the length of the die.

Standard sizes are available up to 60" long, with over 20 tons lift and 36 tons clamp capacity. Double T clamps without rollers are also available single acting or double acting, for use on the press bed or slide.

Special Pump and Valve Package

Special pump and valve packages are built from standard components by Hilma Division of Carr Lane Roemheld to suit the specific needs of the quick die change customer.

The solenoid valve package shown was designed for a press builder in the Northeast. The requirements were three double-acting clamp circuits to operate at 5800 psi, one reduced pressure circuit for a double-acting locator cylinder, and one reduced-pressure, single-acting die lifter circuit with circuit relief valve. All circuits are controlled by 110 VAC solenoids and monitored by pressure switches.

New Hydraulic Die Lifters Feature
Increased Lift Capacity at Reduced Cost

New hydraulic rectangular rollblocks from Hilma deliver greater lift capacity at a lower price than earlier models. These standardized modular units provide a fast, convenient solution to varied die movement requirements.

Roller-type hydraulic die lifters now work with higher operating pressures which provide maximum lift capacity per foot. In stock and ready for delivery, they fit existing 1-1/16" T-slots and can be shimmed, if needed, for deeper slots.

Hilma die lifters are also available in a mechanical version with spring-loaded ball lifters suitable for use in light dies and small presses. Offered in several lengths and configurations, both hydraulic and mechanical rollblocks provide consistent, reliable operation. New lower prices on the hydraulic die lifters reflect new in-house manufacturing and a more efficient design than previous models.

Chain-Drive Traveling Clamps
Quickly Clamp Dies
Of Different Sizes

New chain-drive traveling clamps from HILMA provide automatic upper die clamping on large metal stamping presses. The clamps accommodate dies of different shoe widths, and are specially suited to automotive stampers, as new or retrofit systems.

Compact traveling clamps feature an electric motor-driven chain which moves the hydraulic clamp against the die. The chain drive is completely retracted from the T slot when the clamps are in the home position.

The clamps are available as single- or double-acting units. The double-acting version provides fast unclamping and added safety via a pilot-operated check valve built into each clamp which will not release in case of pressure loss.

Order traveling clamps with clamping forces of 22,000 lbs. at 2900 psi, or models with 37,000 or 57,000 lbs. at 5800 psi. Clamp stroke ranges to .866" for wider variation of clamp height. Various configurations are available to suit specific customer needs.
